To Use Java SE API Documentation

Application Programming Interface (API) contains Java classes that are handy in building Java applications. Java™ Platform, Standard Edition 6 - API Specification can be viewed online on the Sun Microsystem website or can be viewed offline.

To download Java™ Platform, Standard Edition 6 - API Specification:

• Access the Java Download section of the Sun Microsystem website
• Under the Additional Resources section, click on the Download button for Java SE 6 Documentation
• Under the Java SE Development Kit Documentaion 6 webpage, select the Language, tick on the I agree to the Java SE Development Kit Documentation 6 License Agreement checkbox and click on the Continue button
• Under the Download Java SE Development Kit Documentation 6 for Documentation, English webpage, click on the jdk-6u10-docs.zip file (56.16 MB) to download the Zip file directly or via the Sun Download Manager tool

To install Java™ Platform, Standard Edition 6 - API Specification:

• Unzip the downloaded jdk-6u10-docs file
• Access the index.html file in the jdk-6u10-docs> docs folder
• Under the JDKTM 6 Documentation webpage, select the API, Language, and VM Specs tab
• Under the API, Language, and VM Specs section, the Java Platform API Specification is available for selection for further offline viewving
