To Use Eclipse IDE

Lots of IDEs (Integrated Development Environments) are available in the market for Java Programming Language. An IDE not only serves as program text editor but also for compilation, monitoring, debugging and tool for developing Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs). The popular IDEs are Eclipse, Netbeans and Rational.

To Download Eclipse IDE:
  • Access Downloads section of the Eclipse website
  • Under the Eclipse Downloads webpage, select the Eclipse IDE for Java Developers (92MB) link
  • Under the Eclipse downloads - mirror selection webpage, proceed to download the eclipse-java-galileo-SR1-win32.zip file by selecting a mirror site link
To install Eclipse IDE:
  • Unzip the downloaded eclipse-java-galileo-SR1-win32.zip file
  • Open the eclipse.exe file to execute the Eclipse IDE
  • A Workspace Launcher window pops up
  • Select the default Workspace or your change it to your preferred workspace
  • Select the OK button to start using the Eclipse IDE
